Dear colleagues,
It is indeed a pleasure for me to welcome all of you to our III° International
Neurosurgical Symposium, which is taking place from April 25 to 27, 2010 in
Teheran.
We have planned a very exciting
program with international distinguished speakers. This year we have included in
our program various topics of neurosurgery and for the
better understanding of all diagnostic and neurosurgical treatments, the
world-famous neuroanatomist, Prof. Rabischong from Montpellier will present a
comprehensive
anatomy of different cerebral structures.
One of the most important topics
is “Management of Cerebrovascular Processes”. We will not only discuss the
anatomy and diagnostic, but also interventional treatments as well as surgical
possibilities of arteriovenous malformations, cerebral aneurysms and
intracranial cavernomas. We have planned special lectures on pituitary adenomas,
craniopharyngeomas and pineal tumours. One of the highlights of this symposium
will be molecular imaging in diagnosis as well as therapeutic management of head
and neck tumours and its reconstructive surgery. Nowadays, every neurosurgeon
worldwide knows the importance of navigation and brain mapping in neurosurgery.
Therefore, a scientific session has been dedicated to navigation, brain mapping
and intraoperative visualization. Various techniques of preservation and
reconstruction of facial nerve from the brain stem to the single peripheral
branches of facial nerve will be one of the important topics. For the last day
we are planning life surgical demonstrations.
I am very thankful for the
cooperation and support of the Milad Hospital, Iranian Organization for Social
Security, Ministry of Health Care, Ministry of Social Affairs, the Foundation of
Martyrs and Veterans Affairs as well as the Universities of Medical Sciences
Teheran, Iran, and Shahid Pehechti and, last but not least, the International
Neuroscience Institute (INI) Hannover. My special thanks belong to the local
organizing committee for the excellent preparation and efforts to realize this
symposium. It will be a great pleasure for me to see you all at this very
exciting neurosurgical event in Teheran.
With best regards,
Madjid Samii, M. D., Ph. D.
